Live stakes: nature-based structures

Live stakes are tree stem cuttings – mainly willow at Agrinature – that take root and quickly regenerate as new trees and shrubs. They are often used in ecological engineering projects for holding down fascines, weaving fences, or piling layers of branches. Live stakes can protect, stabilise and restore river and stream banks that have eroded. But they are much more than simple stakes: they eventually develop into full-grown groves all along the waterway.
