Fairy ring

A fairy ring is a natural composter that takes organic waste, such as wood cuttings from maintaining the site and debris from conservation agriculture area) and transforms it into nutrient-rich soil for plants. It actively contributes to the circular economy of the site by eliminating the need to evacuate any of these materials.

A fairy ring may be formed by:

• a circle of sporophores, which are the visible parts of mushrooms;

• the lasting effect of the growth of fungi, which produces a substance that acts like a fertiliser the trace of grass that has dried out to allow the fungi to grow.
